In 2015, Public Health England (PHE) published an expert independent review (1) concluding that:

  •       The current best estimate is that e-cigarettes are around 95% less harmful than smoking
  •       Nearly half the population (44.8%) don’t realise e-cigarettes are much less harmful than smoking
  •       There is no evidence so far that e-cigarettes are acting as a route into smoking for children  or non-smokers

This statement was reviewed and confirmed in 2019 (2) : “Combining EC (the most popular source of support used by smokers in the general population), with stop smoking service support (the most effective type of support), should be a recommended option available to all smokers.”

All of our products have been emission tested in line with the requirements of the Tobacco Products Directive (TPD), and notified where appropriate. None of our products contain substances banned by the TPD.

Contrary to common belief, the optimal nicotine level is not directly related to the number of cigarettes smoked per day.

Nicotine in an electronic cigarette has two purposes: to fill the craving effect during the smoker’s withdrawal, and to mimic the throat sensation associated with cigarette smoking. The level of nicotine used must therefore meet these two functions.

A recent study suggests that it is advisable to start up with the highest nicotine level you can tolerate. (1)

The Royal College of Midwives advises pregnant smokers to switch to vaping (1)

  • “E-cigarettes contain some toxins, but at far lower levels than found in tobacco smoke. If a pregnant woman who has been smoking chooses to use an e-cigarette (vaping) and it helps her to quit smoking and stay smokefree, she should be supported to do so.”
  • “If a woman has switched completely to vaping and is not smoking at all, she should be recorded as a non-smoker.”
  • “Based on the available evidence on e-cigarette safety, there is no reason to believe that use of an e-cigarette has any adverse effect on breastfeeding. ‘Vaping’ should continue if it is helpful to quitting smoking and staying smoke free.”

Vape Grade is a term we have coined to describe the quality and standard of our products. Vape Grade means that our flavours have been specifically developed for inhalation with vapes.

Food grade products have not been designed to be inhaled, they have been designed to be eaten (or maybe drunk). This means our body processes/receive them in a different way. When we eat, anything entering our body goes through our in-built defences (the stomach and liver). Vaping bypasses these defences, so we believe a higher standard of safety is required

Because they are the highest quality product, and the safest you can use for Vaping.

An e-liquid consists of propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine (which produce the vapour), plus nicotine and flavouring. The component parts of the flavouring will vary, dependent on the flavour type. Most of the flavouring components used are pure versions of aroma chemicals that are found in nature and give the taste of our everyday foods

No – Not all companies go above and beyond in the way we do but all companies do have to meet TPD standard.

Yes –  we use the same flavour across the range of nicotine strengths. Nicotine itself has a strong and unpleasant taste (which anyone who has tried nicotine gum can attest to!). Our flavourings are designed to minimise the taste impact of nicotine

All of the ingredients we use are toxicologically assessed by our Toxicology department, prior to approval for use. We only buy from reputable suppliers that have passed our rigorous supplier approval process. In addition, all incoming raw materials are tested before use, and all finished liquids tested before dispatch

Our Product Stewardship department ensures that none of our products contain any compounds classified as food allergens. We also exclude any compounds classified as respiratory allergens. Moreover, for those compounds that might be associated with any type of contact sensitization our toxicologists carry out a full toxicological assessment to ensure that the amount of these compounds included in our products is below the threshold at which they induce an allergic response. If such a level cannot be derived we will not include that compound in our products.

Having said that, there are very sensitive individuals that can suffer an allergic response when exposed to extremely small concentrations of certain chemicals. That is, below the level at which such an allergic response would not happen in the general population. This is something that we also endeavour take in consideration and make sure that we highlight potential sensitizers in our products.

Nicotine salts can more closely replicate cigarette-like nicotine delivery in the lung (When compared to freebase), they are more effective in enabling switching to e-cigarettes, therefore helping to further realise the harm reduction potential of e-cigarettes.
